   Furney's Nursery hosts lots of great events throughout the year!  Whether it is an informative seminar on plants or perhaps something a little more crafty, you can always find something to do here at Furney's!  Here is a schedule of upcoming events:

 

 
 

What's the buzz about bees?

w/ Queen Bee, Missy Anderson
February 25th from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon


FREE SEMINAR!

Have you ever thought about becoming a bee farmer? Want to find out what it takes? Join us to learn about hosting blue orchard bees, aka mason bees. Speaker Missy Anderson has been raising mason bees for 15 years and she says it's fun and easy! Even if you're not sure about bee-coming a farmer, come find out how you can bee a part of the solution in regards to our declining pollinator populations. Once you've learned how to host bees, you can purchase them here at the nursery or rent them at one of our bee rental events! (See below)

 

 
  Pancake Breakfast Fudraiser!

DONATIONS ENCOURAGED!

There is nothing quite like hotcakes right off the grill and a fresh cup of coffee! Please join us as we co-host a pancake breakfast with Destination Des Moines to benefit our local 4th of July Fireworks Show. You can also enjoy our guest speaker on growing bountiful berries. Also, "Rent Mason Bees" will be here to assist you with any questions you may have regarding becoming a bee farmer. Lots to do, so don't miss out on this opportunity to come relax while supporting our city. Destination Des Moines is a non-profit organization that provides free family events in our city. This is done by educating others about the value of hosting bees, how to protect their native habitat and making healthy choices for our food supply. We are partnering with Regional Animal Services of King County and other local non-profit organizations and businesses to offer a day all about our furry friends! Come in and see all the cuddly pets that are looking for a forever home. There will be all kinds of goodies, games, selfie frames, doggie bags, frisbees and more. Lots to see and do. Today Hugelkultur is being used in urban gardens to regenerate soil, save water and provide nutritious garden space for both perennial and annual food crops. Choose between two workshops where you will learn about the practice of mounding soil over composting and organic materials, which assist the soil in regenerating itself through increased water retention and the slow release of nutrients. While this practice has grown in popularity over recent years, it has been used in various forms by European cultures dating back many centuries.

In addition to crazy blooms, you'll get to check out massive mum plants, plus arrangements made from mums and other beautiful elements!
